Well done to our athletes who took part at the Irish Senior Championships over the weekend!

Katie Kirk, in what has been her first season back after a long time out with injury – produced a great performance to grab silver in the 800m Final (2.07.56)🥈 just behind winner Ciara Mageean (2.07.30).

Captain Craig Newell had a busy weekend, opting to compete over both the 100m and 200m – reaching the final in both. After qualifying automatically for the 100m Final in a new PB of 10.74, Craig fought hard to finish 8th (10.93). Shortly after in the 200m Final, after also qualifying automatically (21.62) and being drawn in between favourites Leon Reid and Marcus Lawler – Craig produced another great run, very close to his personal best to take 5th in 21.65.

Captain Caitlin Maguire returned on Day 2 after running a personal best in the 100m heats (12.14) to qualify – and reinforced her brilliant form as she matched this to take 9th place in what was her first National 100m Final.

Jack MacNeill, saved some of his best throws for his first National Senior Championships – equalling his personal best of 48.90m to place 9th overall in the Javelin.

Alan Kennedy, in his first Triple Jump competition in 3 years, produced a best of 14.07m on Day 1 to take 4th. He returned on Day 2 in the Long Jump to take 7th with a best of 6.82m, in what was the most competitive field in many years.

Well done to all!
